The 6 Ways to Do SEO Keyword Research

Per usual, when I check the box on my ” Special Interests” that allow me to narrow my search to a more precise term, it will list results with webpages that include the keyword as well as those that do not.  Really though, what good is a page that doesn’t show up when you search with a particular term?

So what do you do?  How do you get those important hits?  Well, you can trick the search engines, you can pay for them, or you can do what most of us are organically doing – build web pages with good content.

If you want to trick the search engines to get a higher ranking, then the best way to do it is to publish multiple copies of the same web page.  When the search engines come along to catalog your site, they will find more than one copy of the same page on your site.  They will then treat your site as if it is more than one unique page with duplicate content.  This can lead to a loss of rank as the search engines believe you are trying to game the system rather than employ genuine SEO methods.

If you want to get traffic from generic searches then you need to develop multiple webpages that each have good content and are unique.  Google will come along and index your site one page at a time.  Each page will be the appropriately title’d version of your homepage, and Google will treat these pages as unique.  For example, if your site was dedicated to buffeting fish, then you would have pages dedicated toPhase reflective diving equipment, deeper into the line of business.  Your site could be about phase reflective diving equipment and another page could be dedicated to cheap Serpents

What about the robots?  Do you want them to index your site one page at a time?  You need to tag your pages properly so the robots know how to classify and index your site.  The most important pages should be the most important.  Write a short description for your site, 1000 or less.

If you have written a good Tag, Description and keywords then you should have a fairly simple time getting your site indexed.  You can get listed in Google in under six weeks.  Some search engines take longer.  Look at other sources of guaranteed search engine traffic such as MSN.

Now you need to get reciprocal links.  Links are considered worthless here unless you are asking for a link exchange.  You want one way links from good quality sites.  Preferably links from relevant sites.  If you are trading links, and want to make sure the traffic you create from those links is not diluted, then ensure you have relevant text with your keywords in it.

Finally some good news.  Make sure you have submitted your site to the various search engines.  By doing so, you are creating a entry point for your site.  The engines want to find out if you are Factual, Bold and Italicized.  If you use those tags, they will want to know if you are operating a business, and for that you need to create a company.  Do this the smart way first and you will see the results soon.

Now that you have your keywords and niche covered you need to turn to the forums to get your content out there.  This is a very important step in order to raise your site in the SERP’s.  The search engines need to know how to rank you.  They want to see that you are a real business not a get rich quick opportunity.  They want to see your site being used for what you say it is used for.  Provide value for their users.

You can get lots of back links just by posting to forums, especially in the Professionals section.  They have re-engineered most of the SERPs within Google.  For example if you look at the “natural” search results for any term you will find that the sites are only listed on the first page or two.  Believe it or not there are over 200 thousand search engine optimization sites that have been built to appear on the first page of organic search results.  In order to rank on the first page you need to provide constant, fresh content.  If your site is not frequently updated you will be ranked lower. Provide new content at least once a week.

Meta tags are not meant to be used for keyword stuffing.  Don’t use them for that purpose because it isn’t going to help you. Meta tags is one of the better ways if you happen to get a keyword in your meta tag, because the search engines will know what the page is specifically about. Stay away from keyword stuffing.

The internet is more of a circulating system than it is a series of rankings.
